batt insulation is an inorganic product and is not affected by moisture, insects or mold. Fiberglass insulation has a paper facing that is connected to the fiberglass by a tar like substance. Batt insulation is one of the most affordable types of insulation for walls. It is effective and affordable, but it is better for areas without a lot of pipes, wires, or other obstructions because these interruptions in the wall require cutting the insulation to fit around them and would make gaps and negatively affect the seal of the wall.
